Mia sees loyalty scores and chooses Ethan after Jack's plummets.
Mia reads a loyalty counter above every person and watched Jack hold a flawless hundred for six years until envy toward the girl he calls sunshine eroded it. Instead of pleading, she walks away and takes up running for herself. On the track she gravitates toward Ethan, whose score has never dropped since she once drafted him into a P.E. group. Jack begs, follows, and schemes to reclaim her, but Mia refuses to chase a number that has already fallen.
