A beast interpreter dreams a rival steals her position at a royal dragon ceremony.
The academy's chief interpreter of dragon, griffin, and shadow wolf speech awakens from a nightmare where newcomer Liora Bell claims identical translation gifts. In the vision, Liora commandeers the exclusive role at the royal dragon pact ceremony, absorbing every honor while the academy brands the incumbent jealous and demotes her to griffin stable duty.
