Hazel sells a gold watch to save her son, unknowingly summoning his father, Montana's most powerful man.
Hazel raises an infant alone, her only link to the father a distinctive gold watch. When the child falls critically ill, she sells the timepiece for medical funds. The sale acts as a signal, revealing her location to the stranger — now identified as Montana's dominant power broker. He arrives to acknowledge his heir and envelop Hazel in wealth and protection, while systematically dismantling the rivals who once threatened them.
