Niska defies Spartan law to master Ares combat in secret, then reveals her forbidden skill when enemies slaughter her family's men.
Spartan statute reserves the brutal Ares trials for men alone, forcing Niska of the Aspis line to sharpen lethal technique in silence while her kin treat her as a ward. A surprise assault wipes out every male champion of the house, collapsing its defense and leaving her as the sole remaining combatant. She steps forward, wielding the mastery she was forbidden to learn, to shield her bloodline and stake her claim as the true heir to Ares.
