A dragon goddess destroys the family she protected for a century after they betray her.
For a hundred years Aurelia honored a pact with the Ashfords, healing their ancestor and securing their mines and fortune. The modern descendants discarded the covenant, treating their immortal benefactor as a charity case. At a banquet they publicly shamed her, fabricated theft charges, and bartered her hand to a ruthless investor. They seized her dragon-scale token, forced a binding marriage contract, and tried to imprison her with a god-binding ring to drain her blood and replicate her fire. The elderly butler Edmund died saving her, and her mercy evaporated.
