A wife builds her husband's empire then destroys it after betrayal.
Evelyn Ashcroft surrendered her inheritance to fund Nathaniel Crowe's ascent from penniless attorney to New York railway and mining magnate. A decade later, his secretary revealed he had fathered a son with Vivian, the woman who once married Evelyn's father. Evelyn filed for divorce, denounced him publicly at his book signing, returned to her father's railway conglomerate, and with ally Charles methodically dismantled Crowe Railway and Mining until Nathaniel and Vivian lost everything and fell into addiction and destitution.
